Pomegranates are precious stones from the group of silicates. They are characterized by a red, bloody color. Pomegranates are minerals with a heterogeneous chemical composition. The name of the pomegranate comes from Latin and comes from the similarity of its crystal to pomegranate fruit particles.

Pomegranate - types

Pomegranates are classified into the following groups according to their chemical composition:

  • aluminum - pirop, grossular, hessonite, spessartine, almandine, rhodolite
  • iron - andradite, demantoid, majorite, calderite
  • chrome - uvarrowite, knorringite, henleite
  • vanadium - goldmanite
  • zirconium - kimzeyit
  • magnesium, iron and manganese - pyalspit
  • calcium - ugrandite

Pomegranate - properties
